Indeed he was! I believe this refers to Pope John Paul 2 when elected in 1978. But wait a minute. If my memory serves me right his immediate predecessor, John Paul 1, only lived one month after HE was elected. This was presumably a highly unusual event, and I believe a conspiracy-type book appeared years later suggesting he was assassinated! Am I right? What did happen to JP 1 and was he the shortest ever reigning pope? OK it is a bit off track, I admit.
